Cornelle is currently deployed to Iraq with his National Guard unit, we are extremely proud of his service and look forward to his return.

Cornelle Carney began working with the Afterschool Partnership in January 2009.Cornelle’s work as Youth Liaison allows him to have the unique responsibility of bridging the gap between adults, youth, and the work the Partnership does with youth. This includes major support, training, and facilitation as part of the citywide, youth-led mapping initiative.Cornelle has an accomplished history in youth leadership. As a student at O.Perry Walker High in New Orleans, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, was elected among his peers President of the student government association, all working towards graduating in the top 5% of his 2008 class.

Other accomplishments include being one of the co-founding youth of the Young Planners Network (YPN), selected as the inaugural Keynote Youth Speaker at the 2008 YPN Conference, and was featured on a Soledad O’Brien/Spike Lee CNN special series “Behind the Scenes”. He has been featured in national conference panels for PolicyLink, National League of Cities, and Kellogg Foundation.Cornelle is a student at Loyola University in New Orleans and is an active member of the Louisiana National Guard.
